Dr. Michael
Strauss provides critical review of scientific and
regulatory documentation, as well as technical writing,
and methods evaluation.
Dr. Strauss’s post-graduate experience is in
the development of ISO9001-certified research products.
His dissertation research was on the characterization
of inherent filament assembly elements within the
Myosin Heavy Chain tail. Following his Ph.D., Dr.
Strauss joined Eppendorf 5 Prime, the reagent arm
of the German company Eppendorf AG. Dr. Strauss was
initially hired to bring protein purification and
fractionation expertise to Eppendorf 5 Prime, and
helped develop Eppendorf’s first proteomics
product, the PerfectPure C18 Desalting Tip. When research
foci shifted at the company, Dr. Strauss began to
lead a group that cloned, expressed and characterized
numerous novel PCR enzyme systems. Finally, Dr. Strauss
was promoted to manage a group producing not only
novel PCR enzyme systems, but also nucleic acid purification
products. His achievements as manager included finalizing
the release of the Orimaster product, a product that
allows users to quickly produce sequencing-grade DNA
without a liquid culture step. Eppendorf 5 Prime was
sold to Qiagen GmbH, to become 5 Prime, Inc. Dr. Strauss
concluded his time there working on technology transfer
and intellectual property documentation.
Dr. Strauss’s strengths include expertise in
Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry, Structural Biology,
and Analytical Methods as well as project management
and background in the biotechnology product development
process.
Dr. Strauss received his B.A. from Oberlin College,
his M.S. and Ph.D. from Albert Einstein College of
Medicine in New York.
