Linda
E. Keyes , M.D. |
|
Dr. Linda Keyes is a board-certified
Emergency Physician and a Fellow of the American College
of Emergency Physicians. She earned her bachelor’s
degree at University of Michigan. After graduating
with distinction, she spent a year conducting research
on pancreatic acinar cell growth in the Department
of Molecular and Integrative Physiology. She earned
her MD degree from Yale University School of Medicine,
where she spent two extra research years completing
her award winning honors thesis studying the effects
of pregnancy and estradiol on vascular smooth muscle
cell growth.
Dr. Keyes completed her emergency
medicine residency at Alameda County Medical Center
in Oakland, CA. She subsequently worked as clinical
faculty at University of California San Francisco
before starting an NIH post-doctoral research fellowship
at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in
the Cardiovascular Pulmonary Laboratory and Women’s
Health Research Center. Dr. Keyes’ research
fellowship focused on pregnancy at high-altitude and
included studies examining molecular effects of hypoxia
on uterine vasculature as well as the clinical effects.
She went on to become faculty at UCHSC in the division
of Emergency Medicine where she continued her work
on pregnancy at high-altitude and initiated studies
on the pathophysiology of acute mountain sickness.
Dr. Keyes is the author of numerous
peer-reviewed publications. She is on the editorial
board of Wilderness and Environmental Medicine and
is an active peer-reviewer for Annals of Emergency
Medicine, where she has been awarded “Top-Reviewer”
status, and other scientific publications. She was
a resident editorial board member of Annals of Emergency
Medicine and editor of the “Resident’s
Perspective” column. She has published on the
topic of peer-review and taught seminars on writing
effective scientific papers. Other editorial credits
include her position as Clinical Editor for Harrison’s
Practice, an electronic version of Harrison’s
Principles of Internal Medicine and as a reviewer
for commercial patient education materials.
As a practicing emergency physician,
Dr. Keyes has a broad base of clinical knowledge and
skills. She has worked in both private and academic
settings, as well as spending almost two years as
Chief of a small, rural emergency department in the
Navajo Nation in Arizona. She brings both a scientific
and “real world” perspective to clinical
issues and research.
